SC dismisses judges petitions against July 31 verdict

SLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the petitions of former of judges of invalidated Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the verdict of July 31 for review, Geo News reported Tuesday.

A 14-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the case of petitions of former judges of the higher judiciary. The counsels of former judges completed their arguments on the maintainability of their petitions.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry announced the short ruling, according to which the court accepted the unconditional apology of the former IHC judges.

The majority of the petitioners had already taken back their petitions and tendered unconditional apology.

Today, when the hearing began, three former judges of invalidated Islamabad High Court (IHC) including Ramzan Chaudhry, Amjad Qureshi and Intikhab Shah withdrew their petitions.

Meantime, Ahmed Raza Kasuri appeared today before the court on part of former Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar in Contempt of Court case. He was twice issued the notices regarding contempt of court.
